GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION

 

 

This village is located 21km. from the city of Ávila, in the South East. It can be reached by taking the N403 road Ávila-Toledo, right after the mountain pass of “El Boquerón”.

It belongs to the judicial district of Cebreros and it takes “de Pinares” as its surname like the other towns in the surrounding areas. The river Gaznata, which comes from the El Cuadrón spring, crosses the village. Its main tributaries are the Grajera stream, the Gaznatilla river, the Garceluño, etc., and it flows in the Alberche river near the Burguillo reservoir.

The village is located in the valley of the Gaznata, between two rocky hills down the mountain pass of the Pilas, just in the middle of the Old Royal Trail.

The train station of Navalgrande or Canto del Pico and La Cañada are also part of the municipality.

To the North: Tornadizos and Urraca Miguel.

To the South: Santa Cruz de Pinares and San Bartolomé de Pinares.

To the East: Navalperal de Pinares and San Bartolomé de Pinares.

To the West: Tornadizos and Santa Cruz de Pinares.

Altitude: 919 m.

Surface area: 48,40 km2

Population: 525 inhabitants, from which 288men and 272 women. According to the Spanish Census of 2011.
